  • Animalearn
    • They have a database on alternatives, all levels of education including some in veterinary medical field.
    • They provide free loan of many items through their The Science Bank.
  • Ben Kitchen, DVM
    • He is the founder of Alternavitae, LLC, apparently located in Columbus, Ohio, USA. He has produced several alternatives for use in veterinary medical education. A search of the Web revealed only a telephone number: 614.486.9150. According to the HSVMA, an E-mail contact address is alternavitae@wowway.com, but this was in 2006 and has not been verified.

    • They develop and provide material for dentistry training, human and veterinary.
  • Delletec Surgical Procedure Simulators
    • They develop and provide simulators for surgical skills training.
  • ESEC’s Alternatives Loan Library
    • They have a modest database on alternatives for free loan, mostly to do with dissection at the undergraduate and lower level.
  • Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association Alternatives in Education Database
    • Database of various alternatives, for veterinary medical education and other disciplines. Be aware, however, that many of these are out of date, no longer available or the information in the database is incorrect.
  • Immersion Corporation
    • Produce some virtual reality simulators for surgical practice, for human medical training, but some could be universal in application. An attempt to contact them concerning one of their products in Oct 2014, resulted in automated promise to reply, but never got a reply.

  • University of California School of Veterinary Medicine Vascular Access Training Models
    • They have developed excellent models, based on the dog, to train students in the art of vascular access (phlebotomy). Their site indicates these may be commercially available through the university.
